About us
French Beds of Oxford are a small family run business, who, over the last nine or ten years,
and making four to five trips a year to France, have built up a good working relationship and
rapport with the French dealers. We travel many miles through France to source good quality antiques,
(90% of our stock is bought in France) from small village shops to large trade warehouses.
This way we can if required, usually tell a customer where, within a few miles the stock originates,
most of our customers do like to know. Having built up the business over the last few years,
we now carry around twenty five antique French and English beds in stock at any one time,
we now pride ourselves with having one of the largest selections of antique beds in the country.
With a very good selection of styles and sizes , this coupled with a superb web site and an out
of town unit, make us a unique shopping experience.
About beds
All our antique beds and furniture are sold in as near original condition as possible,
and because we do all our own buying we can minimise that "over restored look " that many
suppliers seem to produce. We find a good clean, a wax up and plenty of elbow grease can achieve a
far better and more natural look, no piece of antique furniture should have that glossy new look.
Bases and Mattresses
Because of the sometimes odd shape or size of an antique French bed, we make all our own box bases,
these are made to measure especially for each particular bed, this way we can ensure a perfect fit,
and unless otherwise stated, these are included in the price.
Any size new mattress, either made to measure, or standard size, can be purchased through us at trade
price, if required.
We hope you find these facts of interest, just as we find the whole antique business fascinating and
interesting.
